Confidentiality
Draft for review by GEMS Sanctuary. This page will be finalized before launch.
What you share with GEMS Sanctuary is kept private. Only Cris and Cal, and anyone they personally ask to walk with you, can read it. We never share your story, sell your information, or add you to a mailing list. GEMS Sanctuary is a ministry led by ordained ministers and certified coaches, not licensed clinicians, and our care is spiritual and wholistic rather than medical or psychological treatment.
How we protect what you share
- What you write about what is going on is encrypted before it is saved.
- It is never sent by email. We are notified that someone is waiting, and we read it only after signing in.
- Every time a staff member opens your request, it is recorded.
When we refer
Some needs call for specialists. When someone is facing addiction, substance use, or thoughts of suicide, we connect them with outside professionals who are equipped to help, and we keep walking alongside them in prayer and follow-up.
The limits of confidentiality
We will act to protect life and safety. That means we may share information without your permission when:
- someone is in immediate danger of harming themselves or someone else, or
- we learn of the abuse or neglect of a child or a vulnerable adult, which Florida law requires us to report.
Whenever it is safe to do so, we will tell you before we share anything.
If you are in crisis right now
Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any hour of any day. You can also chat at 988lifeline.org. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911.
